Price Lists
Price lists are collections of products with associated pricing information. Each price list includes a price for each product, a start date, and an optional end date. Price lists serve an important role in determining product pricing when not explicitly specified by a subscription template.
Overview
Price lists provide a flexible way to manage pricing for products across different time periods. When multiple price lists are applicable for a product, the system always selects the cheapest price available for the customer.
Key characteristics of price lists:
- Each price list has a name, start date, and optional end date
- Individual product prices are added to price lists
- The system automatically selects the lowest available price when multiple options exist

Best Practices
- Create price lists with clear time boundaries to manage pricing changes
- Use descriptive names that indicate the purpose or timeframe of the price list
- Review active price lists periodically to ensure they reflect current pricing strategies
- Create a price list per financial year. Leave the end date empty until new prices have been confirmed, then set the end date for the current financial year and create a new price list for the new financial year with the new prices.
